Ms. Naumann is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit and the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. In addition, Ms. Naumann is also licensed to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office.
Professional Memberships and Leadership
Ms. Naumann is a member of the Chicago Bar Association where she has served as Chairman of the Science, Technology and Law Committee. Ms. Naumann was the Co-chairman for the Patent Committee of the Converging Technologies Bar Association for 2006-2007.
Ms. Naumann has served as Secretary on the Board of the University of Chicago, Chicago Women's Alliance. She was also appointed to the Electronic Discovery Pilot Program of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Ms. Naumann previously served on the Illinois Institute of Technology Alumni Association Board of Directors in Chicago, Illinois from 2007 through 2010. Ms. Naumann has also participated as a judge for science projects in the Illinois Institute of Technology Interprofessional Projects Program. In this program undergraduate students collaborate on projects directed to industry, medicine, transportation and alternative energy resources.
Professional Experience and Expertise
Ms. Naumann has worked continuously as an attorney since she graduated from law school. Ms. Naumann established her own practice in 1996 which is exclusively intellectual property law. Ms. Naumann’s practice includes individual entrepreneurs and start-up companies, as well as small and medium sized businesses. Her issued patents include a broad range of technologies including: a razor handle, board game, agricultural method, pneumatically driven trench shoring device, floral containers, electromechanical locks, laminar flow nozzle, portable exercise devices, mechanical bag holder, freight car valves, computer storage devices and shelving. When necessary, she has filed patent application appeals in the Patent & Trademark Office on behalf of clients.
Ms. Naumann also has obtained trademarks, copyrights and design patents on behalf of individual artists and writers as well as companies. In addition to obtaining intellectual property protection through government agencies, Ms. Naumann advises and drafts documents relating to intellectual property ownership, shop rights, work for hire, transfers of rights, licenses, permissions, rescission, consents, distribution agreements, non-disclosure agreements, releases, trade secrets, proprietary information and web sites.
